RSS Feeds is more powerful than I ever imagined. I'm truly new to this application. I'm floored by it's power. RSS feeds can leverage my productivity time and make it easier to create web quests and resources that are relevant to topic in hand. I was excited to see that this chapter explained how to add a subscription to my school website!

I missed the part in the book that talked about adding RSS feed to a school website. Glad I read your post. I will reread as I want to do this to our website as well.

THanks for pointing out that we can get a subscription. That is a super helpful reminder of something to take away with us after reading.

Erik, great idea to add an RSS feed for your school website. How do you plan to communicate this to teachers and parents? I think many casual internet users are not exactly aware of this tool and how to best use it. Now after reading chapter 5, that doesn't include me!

I have a love hate relationship with RSS readers. I love them because it makes my blog reading easier. I hate them because then I sit and read blogs. In our current digital environment I feel at times a sense of information overload. There is a great Portlandia skit where two people are challenging each other to a "Have you read" competition. I often feel that describes my life.

You're right, there is a great power to understanding how to use RSS readers. I'm glad that you found a use for them with your school website.

I'm also interested in how you will communicate this with your parents. I think it could be a really great tool, but it's always most difficult explaining it to others that aren't really familiar with much technology.
