This was my first introduction to RSS. I had heard of it before, and it was mentioned in previous courses, but I never really understood what it had meant. This last Friday I was able to attend a workshop put on by John Kuglin. During this workshop I was introduced to a lot of different web 2.0 tools, this being one of them. I think the title states how it could be, either killer as in great, or killer as in too much. After messing around with it, I found it to be more time consuming that useful at this point. Sure, I could miss a few things here and there, but when I check blogs I'm usually just browsing not looking for something specific. I felt like it was just another thing to manage in my already hectic life. Maybe if I learn to use it, and give it some time, I may find that I really enjoy it. But, at this point, an RSS is not for me.

You bring up some good points about how it could be "killer" in a negative way. Between work, grad classes, coaching an ice fishing team, being the FBLA advisor, and trying to have a family life I feel like my life is super hectic. Over the last three nights I have probably spent an hour and a half of my life playing on Google Reader. Hopefully it is just going to use more time now and will save me time later.

I think the key here is to begin slowly. Find a few blogs or as you stumble upon different things items that you wish to continue to return to. Subscribe to them and over time you will build up a library of resources that are useful to you.
