Before I started this degree I was a user of Twitter and Delicious, but I closed out both accounts because I wasn't getting any value out of them and for the latter I didn't like all the transitions when Delicious was acquired by Yahoo. Today I am using all of the tools mentioned in this chapter mostly because of course requirements. I do like using social bookmarking for personal use, but I tend to use the built in bookmark bar with Google Chrome that can be accessed from anywhere as long as I’m logged in with my Google account.
The use of social media in the classroom is very intriguing. I believe it would create a personal bond with the teacher and classmates that would be more meaningful in the long-term. Rather than just completing static assignments to get by, the content would more likely be retained after the semester is finished. The artifacts created through the use of social media will also be valuable in the long run.

I think it would be interesting to have a continued relationship with my students via Twitter but it seems weird to be following them back. As a mandatory reporter I would feel it would be my duty to say something if a student posted something illicit or worrisome.

I also use delicious until Yahoo purchased it and all development on it seemed to stop. That is when I switched to diigo. the power that I finding social bookmarking isn't for myself, or I could also just use the bookmark tool in chrome. I find the power when you are actually collaborating and sharing your bookmarks with others which is why I use the social bookmarking tools.
