The only viable option that I could see myself using would be screencasting. I liked his example of using it for IT support issues that require more in depth technical explanations. One example that comes to mind was when I received materials on how to set up a VPN network at my work. It was very lengthy and contained screenshots for every step of the way. Even with all of this documentation and imagery it wasn't straight easy to understand. If I didn't have previous knowledge on how to do it, I'd probably be lost. A screen cast would have been a lot more useful and environmentally friendly.
The only barriers that I can think of are getting around all of the security issues. Most social media websites are blocked and even some personal servers. I don’t have much use for podcasting or live streaming, but I'm not against them either. It would be an opportunity to engage people in alternative forms of communication.

Antonio, great idea to use screencasting for resolving IT issues. I have called the IT support line for VPN questions and could have resolved the issue with a handy screencasting link.

It is interesting that you see screen casting as the sole method of providing more in-depth technical explanations. I have listened to a podcast for the last seven years or so which gives technical explanations and while I don't have the screenshots in front of me to help, I am usually able to understand the explanations the of the podcast. If you have an opportunity, or an interest, take a listen to one. Mac Geek Gab
