I haven't listened to any podcasting and I am not sure how I would use that at school at this point. I need to listen to a few and figure out if I had something worthwhile to say as that is the main point of podcasting.
Students are already creating videos for many of their assignments. My daughter uses Movie Maker and burns a disc at home, then takes it to school. One type of video recording we are looking for is record a teacher while he is explaining high level math problems. He doesn't just want to do screen casting (we do have the ability to record from SMART Board) as he thinks students do need to see a person to be engaged in the video.
I watched Ed's screen casting (got it on Twitter) and was very impressed with the capabilities of it He gave a wonderful presentation on using Symboloo. It was short, less than 5 minutes, and to the point. This is what I want to do with my CMS4Schools website. The teachers did not have much training when we went to this format. I see now that I could do a screen cast of how 1 tool worked and embed that on my webpage. Keeping them short and only discussing 1 aspect at a time would enable staff to learn and then implement this tool easily.
As for live streaming, one package a vendor tried to sell us included a streaming portion. He talked about using it for basketball games or showing a class play etc. At this point we did not buy the package nor are we ready to proceed with this type of presentation.
